The Lao People’s Armed Forces issued a statement on Saturday afternoon denying earlier media reports that claimed there had been clashes between Lao forces and Cambodian troops. Lao’s official military newspaper stated that it had not received any such notifications, Xinhua News Agency reported. 

Earlier media reports said the Lao military issued an emergency notice on Saturday, stating that troops engaged in a fierce exchange of fire with several armed Cambodian individuals who had illegally crossed the border in the area between Champasak Province and Thailand's Ubon Ratchathani Province.
