Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun
A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson on Friday reiterated that there are no winners in a tariff war or trade war and protectionism harms common interests of all nations.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun made the remarks at a regular press briefing when asked for comment on US President Donald Trump's latest move of signing an executive order which requires all goods that are considered to have been transshipped to avoid applicable duties to be subject to an additional 40 percent tariff, which may affect Chinese exports.
Also at the same press briefing when asked for comment on the Trump administration's executive order imposing tariffs on a majority of trading partners, Guo said China's position on abuse of tariffs has been consistent and clear. There are no winners in tariff wars or trade wars, protectionism leads nowhere and will harm the interest of all parties, Guo said.
